Are you as bummed out about plastic packaging as we are?
Obviously, food products need to be wrapped in some way. But we have found a great alternative solution. Our friends from Rootree have made us a pouch out of cassava, wood pulp, and beetroot. These pouches are PFAS-Free and will break down into water and carbon dioxide with the help of microorganisms.
So what does this mean for you?
All of the components, except the zipper, are BPI certified for home composting. The zipper is certified for industrial composting and can be cut and handled accordingly.
Keep in mind that the market is still playing “catch up” on compostable packaging, so we don’t recommend placing these in your curbside composting bin. The sorters may see it as plastic and reject it. But don’t despair. The more we pursue alternative package, the more prevalent and accepted it will be come.
Keep the faith and snack on!
